Controller
Career Connections is looking for a Controller for a large online retailer in Athens, Ohio. The primary roles for this position will be to coordinate accounting activities, perform benefits administration and human resource record-keeping, and contribute as a member of senior management.
As the coordinator of accounting activities, the main duties will include:
Directing and overseeing all aspects of accounting operations including general ledger, accounts receivable and payable, payroll, and financial reporting.
Coordinating, preparing, and reviewing monthly and annual financial reports.
Overseeing budget/forecast planning and reporting process.
Overseeing fixed-asset management.
Working with outside accountants who perform payroll and tax preparations
Supervising accounting staff
Additional main duties of this position will include:
Administering activities related to the group health care plan, 401K plan, company insurance policies, and state agency requirements.
Overseeing employee record-keeping activities such as payroll data.
Analyzing the company's financial results and issuing regular status reports and ad hoc reports to senior management to evaluate growth and profitability strategies.
This is a full-time, direct-hire position starting as soon as possible. The regular schedule will be Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm. This company offers a very competitive wage that is commensurate with experience, as well as a full benefits package that includes health insurance and a matching 401K plan.
To qualify for this position, candidates must have a minimum of a bachelor's degree in accounting; having a CPA is preferred. Must have at least 8 years of accounting experience, and some supervisory experience in accounting is preferred. Must have strong detail orientation skills and an ability to effectively handle multiple work assignments and projects. Must be able to thrive in a fast-paced environment and apply theoretical and technical accounting knowledge to analyze and resolve issues.
