Communication and Media Relations Specialist

Career Connections is looking for a Communication and Media Relations Specialist for a busy administrative department in Athens, Ohio. The specialist will implement public relations and external communication initiatives in order to enhance the reputation of the university. Duties include facilitating and managing media coverage, coordinating the media pitch program, creating and editing external communications, and mentoring stakeholders by developing talking points.
This is a temporary, full-time position hiring by April 13 and lasting till the end of June 2015. The schedule will be Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m., with an hour off for lunch. There will be a need to work some evening or weekend hours to cover events. The pay rate is commensurate with experience but in the range of $13-17/hour.
To qualify for this position, candidates might be asked to provide writing samples or a portfolio of work, including news, public relations articles or published stories, so prior experience is necessary. Must have proficiency in MS Office, specifically Word and Outlook. Must be able to produce work in AP style. Working knowledge of Ohio University's organizational system and environment will be a strong plus.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
